THE MARSH

 

The Club has the leased the rights to approx 650 hectares on the river.  The main Quarry is Wigeon Teal Mallard and Canada Goose.  The Canada population has risen in the last eight years from approx 20 to around 500 resident birds, at the start of the season there can be upwards of 1200 or more.  There are a few Pintails and a few Gadwalls.

The river is home to Little Egrets whose numbers have also risen dramatically over the last few years with 77 counted on one day last year. Shelduck are numerous, Spoonbills and Avocets make a regular appearance, and occasionally Eider
